This policy brief has three sections:

A. The Professional Qualifications Directive
B. Academic recognition in the European Education Area
C. The fall-out from Brexit

As we reported in the previous Briefing in January, EU policy makers and legislators are increasingly focused on the need to integrate and energise the professional labour market. This was entirely predictable, given
the urgency generated by the interlocking effects of the pandemic, broader policy initiatives (the Green Deal and digitalisation) and the defence of the Single Market following Brexit.

This Briefing looks at some of the relevant developments of the last six months.
