European Universities Initiative demands system-level reforms [Op-ed]

If we want universities to make a leap in transnational cooperation policymakers must take their own leap in implementing reforms that work towards creating the necessary framework conditions. In Research Europe Anna-Lena Claeys-Kulik and Enora Bennetot Pruvot elaborate on EUA’s latest findings on the European Universities Initiative.

Building on the current challenges and future considerations outlined in EUA’s briefing “The European Universities Initiative and system level reforms” this article examines how the construction of European alliances has shone a light on challenges for cross-border cooperation in general. As the initiative moves into a new phase the authors further reflect on how it may contribute to broader policy reforms beneficial to transnational university cooperation.
