In 2026, the European University Association marks 25 years as the voice of Europe’s universities.
As we celebrate the anniversary, this publication highlights some of EUA’s most notable achievements, as well as key developments in higher education and research, during this time.
To show how the Association, the university sector and the broader European landscape have evolved over the past quarter of a century, 25 members of EUA’s community provided their recollections and reflections on our journey so far.
Each contributor – including university leaders who have served as EUA President or Board member, representatives of member universities who have contributed to a Steering Committee, Expert Group or other activity, current and former staff members, policy makers and fellow higher education and R&I stakeholders who we have worked with here in Europe and further afield – highlights a particular milestone.
