The European University Association is pleased to announce that the Association’s Council has endorsed two candidates to run for the position of EUA Board member for the period October 2025-April 2029:
Levente Kovács, Rector, Obuda University, Hungary Sunniva Whittaker, Rector, University of Agder, Norway
One open Board position will be filled at an extraordinary meeting of the EUA General Assembly, taking place online on 2 October from 10.00-11.00 CEST. Following a call for nominees launched in April 2025, the selected candidates were put forward by the EUA Nominations Committee and endorsed by the EUA Council in August 2025.
The elected candidate will take office as EUA Board member immediately after the General Assembly, replacing Astrid Söderbergh Widding, former rector of Stockholm University. Professor Söderbergh Widding stepped down from the EUA Board in July to take up a leadership position with a research-funding foundation in Sweden.
