Now in its 10th edition the main report is divided into two sections: an analysis of long-term funding trends captured over a decade (2018) and an overview of the latest public funding developments (2019).

In the decade-long analysis three types of trends are defined: systems that have remained committed to investing in universities; those that cut funds to universities in the wake of the economic crisis and are recovering; and those that show continued decline in terms of resources allocated.

EUA has been following the evolution of public funding to universities since 2008. The monitoring is conducted in close cooperation with EUA’s collective members the national rectors’ conferences which regularly provide data from their systems.

The Public Funding Observatory Report 2019/20 is complemented by a full update of the online interactive tool and individual country reports.
