To support the implementation of the Zero Tolerance Code of Conduct, the Horizon Europe GenderSAFE project launched a pledge for individuals and institutions to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to gender-based violence in line with the Code of Conduct.

By taking the pledge, the signatory individuals and institutions commit to the principles contained in the Code of Conduct and to taking steps to implement the Code's recommendations in their everyday conduct - and for institutions in their organisational practices and procedures.

Background:

At the ERA Conference 2024, the Commission's ERA Forum Sub-group on Inclusive Gender Equality launched its Zero-tolerance Code of Conduct containing state-of-the-art recommendations for higher education and research institutions to adopt in their effort to address gender-based violence in institutional settings. It sets out a common approach, definitions, and a list of principles to guide all stakeholders and individuals in the ERA, to create a European Research and Innovation environment free from all forms of gender-based violence, based on the values of gender equality and inclusiveness, respect, dignity and safety.

All research and higher education institutions in Europe, stakeholders in the ERA, as well as individuals, are invited to endorse the EU zero-tolerance code of conduct and act in accordance with the principles it sets out.
