Four experts join EUA’s Learning & Teaching Steering Committee

As of 1 March, four new members start their mandate on the body which provides strategic guidance to EUA’s Learning & Teaching activities.


Following a call for applications among EUA’s membership, the new members are:

  • Philippe Emplit, University Learning Council member, Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium
  • Joanne Pagèze, Vice-President for Internationalisation, University of Bordeaux, France
  • Christiane Jost, Vice-President of Academic and International Affairs, RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, Germany
  • Karin Axelsson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Linköping University, Sweden

Through their appointment, they will work with Steering Committee Chair and EUA Board member Anne Lequy and European Students’ Union (ESU) representative Andrej Pirjevec, as well as two Steering Committee members whose mandates were renewed for another two years:

  • Manuel João Tavares Mendes Costa, Pro-Rector, University of Minho, Portugal
  • Stephanie Marshall, Vice-Principal for Education/Deputy President and Principal, Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom

EUA wishes to express its gratitude to the four departing members of the Steering Committee, who have greatly enhanced the Association’s Learning & Teaching activities through their expertise and support for the past four years:

  • Marta Žuvić, Vice-Rector for Students, Studies and Quality Assurance, University of Rijeka, Croatia
  • Marja Sutela, Vice-President, Tampere University, Finland; and Chair, Network of Education Vice-Presidents, Universities Finland (UNIFI)
  • Romita Iucu, President of the Board of Trustees, University of Bucharest, Romania
  • Manel Jiménez-Morales, Vice-President for Alliances, Open University of Catalonia, Spain
