EUA Leadership workshops

Do you belong to the leadership team of an EUA member university and have responsibility for transnational cooperation? Do you have experience in engaging in a European Universities alliance, are familiar with the opportunities and challenges of alliance building and wish to contribute to improving policies and framework conditions? Or, are you currently revamping your institution’s strategy for transnational cooperation and would like to get some inspiration by exchanging with peers and share your vision?

Then, come and join us at one of two upcoming EUA leadership workshops to exchange on the challenges and opportunities of alliance building from the perspective of university leadership, share your vision for the future and reflect together on the future direction of policies and funding. The workshops will take place online via Zoom.

With soon to be 60 alliances and more than 500 higher education institutions involved (including 311 EUA members at present), the European Universities Initiative has become an important driver for developments in the sector in recent years. We are now entering a new phase. While the pilots are over and evaluations at different levels are still underway, discussions on how to sustain alliances in the future and how to support them at European and national level are ongoing. Therefore, EUA is organising consultations with members at different levels to gather their views and experiences with a view to shaping the future of the initiative and the alliances in a way that is beneficial for the sector as a whole.

To allow as many EUA members as possible to participate, two workshops will be organised online via Zoom:

Leadership workshop 1: Friday, 23 February 2024, 10.00-12.30 CET

Leadership workshop 2: Thursday, 7 March 2024, 14.00-16.30 CET

Together with a select group of university leaders from across Europe, during each workshop we will reflect on experiences, the future direction of the initiative and needs in terms of policies and funding. To kick-start discussions, we will provide you with inspiration from EUA’s recent foresight report “What if? Exploring possible futures of transnational cooperation for Europe’s universities”. The input gathered at these workshops will inform EUA’s positioning on the future of the European Universities Initiative and related European policies.

This is an exclusive opportunity for leaders from EUA member universities. We are looking for participants in an academic leadership position with strategic responsibility for transnational cooperation in a European Universities alliance and/or other types of cooperation. Participation is limited to a maximum of 25 participants per workshop and to only one representative per institution. Participants may only take part in one workshop. If more registrations than the event’s capacity are received, participants will be selected with due consideration for the diversity of the Association’s membership.

The registration deadline is Friday, 16 February 2024.

Join us to have your say, get inspired by exchanges with peers and help to shape EUA’s position!
