How can European higher education make learning and teaching more flexible, inclusive and responsive to increasingly diverse learners? And how can experiences from institutions better inform policy discussions at European and national level?
On 4 November 2026, EURASHE and partners are organising the Learning and Teaching Seminar: The state of play of student-centred and lifelong learning at TU Dublin, bringing together higher education institutions, policy-makers, ministries, students and other stakeholders from across the European Higher Education Area. The event is organised in the context of the Erasmus+ funded Bologna Process for Learning & Teaching (BP4LnT) project, in which EUA is a partner.
Taking place immediately before the Bologna Follow-Up Group meeting in Dublin (5–6 November), the seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss some of the issues at the heart of the current Bologna Process agenda: student-centred learning, lifelong learning, flexible learning pathways and the changing needs of learners and institutions.
While these priorities are increasingly visible in European policy discussions, their implementation ultimately takes place within institutions. At the same time, the experiences, challenges and solutions emerging from practice should help shape the next generation of higher education policies. The seminar aims to create a space where these two perspectives can meet.
Through practical examples, peer exchange and interactive discussions, participants will explore questions such as:
