Ireland is hosting the annual AI in Science Summit 2026 (AIS26) on 15-16 October 2026.
The AI in Science Summit is Europe's premier conference to bring together researchers from all disciplines to showcase the transformative use of AI to enable new research. It also brings together researchers, industry, policymakers and investors to plan the development and implementation of the European Strategy on AI in Science.
The summit is coordinated by University College Dublin and Taighde Éireann-Research Ireland in association with Ireland’s EU Presidency Programme and part of the European AI Innovation Month.
The overarching theme for AIS26 is 'Reaching a New Level of Ambition in Research and Innovation'. The morning of day one features new announcements about future investment in EU supports for researchers exploring AI as a research tool for their disciplines. This is followed by a scientific keynote address.
The remainder of the conference follows six parallel tracks to look at the role of AI in different research areas (Strands 1-3), the research needed to advance the state of the art of AI (Strand 6), and major drivers of AI for research such as policy (Strand 5) and data (Strand 4).
The event will also feature a half day workshop run by SCIANCE on Open Science and Trustworthy AI for European Research. There will also be several information sessions on different research funding schemes.
