As part of its contribution to the Inspireurope project, EUA launched the report “Researchers at Risk: Mapping Europe’s Response” in a webinar on 3 November 2020 from 14:00 to 15:00 CET. Senior representatives from higher education institutions and organisations supporting researchers at risk discussed the research findings.
The skills and attributes of researchers at risk represent significant economic and human capital potential for the countries that host them. However, for such potential to be fully realised on a Europe-wide scale, a diverse set of experienced actors must be well-coordinated in their efforts. Coordinated by Scholars at Risk Europe at Maynooth University in Ireland, the project facilitates transnational cooperation between European and national initiatives and programmes in support of researchers at risk.
As part of the project, EUA conducted a mapping to identify the support structures and measures available to researchers at risk, both at European higher education institutions and other host organisations, as well as at the national and European level. The mapping also identifies specific challenges faced by researchers at risk, as well as by the organisations that host and support them.
