Celebrating the 10th anniversary of EUA-CDE, the Meeting highlights diversity as an enduring characteristic and strength of doctoral education in Europe.

The Meeting focused on diversity in doctoral education. Academic leaders, doctoral education professionals and other stakeholders gather to consider how different dimensions of diversity contribute to the success of doctoral education in an increasingly globalised environment. This includes institutional diversity, as well as the diverse backgrounds of today’s doctoral candidates and also access to doctoral education.

One key element of our meeting was the presentation and discussion of the results of a comprehensive study on the organisation of doctoral education in Europe. The study provided key information on the status of doctoral education in Europe and feed into the work of EUA-CDE in the coming years. Given the growing importance of internationalisation in doctoral education, the programme also included perspectives from outside Europe.

EUA-CDE Annual Meetings have become the largest and most comprehensive gatherings of academic leaders, doctoral education professionals and other stakeholders working on doctoral education and research training in Europe. They are open to everyone with an interest in this field.
