    The 8th edition of the EuroScience Open Forum, as known as ESOF, is rapidly approaching! It will be held in Toulouse, France, between 9 and 14 July 2018.

    The 2nd HEIRRI Conference ‘Education towards a responsible society, transforming universities through RRI’ will present the results of nearly three years of project activities designed to promote the integration of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) within the education of scientists, engineers and other professionals involved in the R&D process.

    Sense about Science is holding a Standing up for Science EU workshop at KoWi, Brussels (Rue du Trône 98, 1050 Ixelles) on Friday 16 March 2018. This FREE full day event is for early career researchers and scientists in all sciences, social sciences, engineering and medicine (PhD candidates, post-docs or equivalent).

    Making sure that all companies have the opportunity to compete on their merits when they do business in the EU is one of the core tasks of the European Commission.

    The European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes was adopted at the Bologna Process Ministerial Conference in Yerevan in May 2015. The European Approach is a step towards minimising barriers in external quality assurance of joint programmes. However, to date, only a few countries have fully integrated the European Approach into their accreditation procedures, and several difficulties in implementing the Approach persist.

    The second International Rating Academy Congress and Exhibition on Hope will be held organized by Rating Academy and the Municipality of Kepez in Çanakkale, Turkey, on 19-21 April 2018. The main purpose of the congress is to create an academic platform within the framework of the concept of hope.

    Jointly convened by the Scholars at Risk (SAR) Network, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Freie Universität Berlin in Berlin, Germany, 23-26 April, 2018 on the theme of "The University and the Future of Democracy", the Global Congress is a biennial event that brings stakeholders together to raise awareness and set an advocacy agenda for the coming years.

    Delivering on the Circular Economy - What's next?
    Two years after the adoption of EU Circular Economy Package in December 2015, more than half of the initiatives included in the Action Plan have been delivered. To discuss upcoming deliverables, explore new areas of action, and share the first achievements of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, the Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee will host a Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference on 20-21 February in Brussels.

    The EUROSTUDENT VI final conference will take place in Berlin on 6-7 March, 2018. The conference will mark the release of the Synopsis of Indicators on Social and Economic Conditions of Student Life in Europe, as well as the EUROSTUDENT database. Researchers, ministry representatives, and stakeholders will share and discuss EUROSTUDENT VI results.

    Lídia Oliveira & Ana Melro, DigiMedia - Digital Media and Interaction (CIC.Digital), Department of Communication and Art, University of Aveiro, Portugal are in the process of editing a forthcoming publication. The publication, entitled "Open and Social Learning in Impact Communities and Smart Territories" is to be published by IGI Global, an international publisher of progressive academic research. The Call for Chapters is open and full chapters can be submitted for consideration in this publication until January, 25 2018.
