The German Rectors' Conference (HRK) and the German National Association for Student Affairs (DSW) are calling on students to participate in the election to the European Parliament on 26 May 2019 with a joint action.

The initiative "Study without borders. Choose Europe!" („Grenzenlos studieren. Europa wählen!“) Is supported nationwide by universities and state-run non-profit organisations for student affairs in order to point out the importance of political participation.

HRK and DSW are concerned about the growing influence of populist and nationalist forces across Europe. At the same time, for most young adults, the only thing that seems unthinkable is peaceful, borderless Europe. Friendly relationships across borders and unrestricted mobility in studies and work are a matter of course for her. The Brexit referendum in 2016, in which comparatively few British students have participated, has shown that the active opinion on Europe is nevertheless or even in doubt for the younger generation.

More information (in German) can be found on the initiative webpage.
