Admission of refugee students - national seminars in Malta and Greece

09 March 2022

National seminars were recently held in Malta and Greece to disseminate results from the testing of the Toolkit for Recognition of Refugees’ Qualifications in higher education institutions (HEIs) as part of the ARENA – Refugees and Recognition (Toolkit 3) Erasmus+ project.

The ARENA project, coordinated by the Norwegian ENIC-NARIC NOKUT, aims use the Toolkit to enhance access to studies for refugees in cooperation with national recognition centres and higher education institutions in major refugee-receiving countries.

The seminar in Malta was organised by Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) and Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology (MCAST) while the seminar in Greece was co-organised by Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (DOATAP) and International Hellenic University (IHU). Recommendations for use of the Toolkit in the national contexts and solutions to challenges in admitting refugees with missing documentation to HEIs were discussed, with positive response and support expressed from stakeholders in both countries. Reports from the national seminars can be found on the project website.
