“Spotlight on recognition” project: new Academic Recognition Hub, webinar and training platform

17 December 2020

The “Spotlight on recognition” project has launched a series of activities and opportunities to engage. The project, co-funded by Erasmus+, is coordinated by EUA and will be of interest to higher education professionals and other stakeholders working in the field of recognition.

The first of these new activities is the Academic Recognition Hub, a database of resources in the field of academic recognition. The Hub is a space for all higher education professionals and other parties with an interest in policies, processes and good practice in academic recognition. In addition to providing quick and easy access to relevant material, such as legal documents, manuals and reports, the Academic Recognition Hub also informs about training and development opportunities, including through an option to subscribe to a mailing list. The website is envisioned as a space in constant development. Hence, each visitor is invited to suggest additional resources to be added to the database and provide feedback on those already provided.

Another opportunity to engage and exchange with peers is the webinar “Ensuring fair and transparent recognition procedures through Bologna Process tools” on 28 January from 14.00-15.00 CET. The webinar will examine various tools developed in the context of the Bologna Process with the aim to enhance transparency and comparability of qualifications, as well as discuss good practices in using them in recognition procedures. Registrations for the webinar will remain open until the start of the event.

Finally, the STREAM online training platform is now open. It is specifically geared towards admissions officers working in higher education institutions in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and provides concise training materials based on the EAR-HEI manual, including examples and exercises from daily recognition practice. In addition to accessing the training materials, platform members can use the “real cases forum” to post questions on specific cases and ask advice from peers throughout Europe. Participation is free of charge.
