Launch of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Association

03 August 2020

On 29 July, representatives of four founding members met in Brussels and formalised the launch of the EOSC Association as a Belgian international non-profit association.

The founding organisations are the Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), GÉANT and Italian Computing and Data Infrastructure (ICDI).

The issuing of the Royal Decree which establishes the EOSC Association will take between six weeks and three months, after which the first General Assembly of the association will can be organised to formally ratify the admission of additional members, can accept more new members and can proceed to the formal voting of Board and President.

Organisations can register their interest to be a member of EOSC. The EOSC Secretariat will contact organisations as soon as possible about the next steps towards admission and about the drafting group for the bylaws. In parallel, organisations are invited to respond to a consultation on the EOSC Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda until 31 August 2020.

EUA has already expressed interest to join the EOSC Association as an observer and is organising a webinar on 4 September 2020 to inform and update members about EOSC.
