On 12 and 13 May, the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO IESALC) is organizing a two-part event at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France to launch the Global Higher Education Trends Report and hold an interactive workshop around strengthening data systems.
The event will provide an opportunity to engage with new global evidence on higher education and to exchange perspectives on how stronger data systems can support more effective governance, planning, and policymaking.
On 12 May (afternoon), the launch of the Global Higher Education Trends Report will present the report’s main findings and foster policy dialogue on how to build more inclusive, resilient, and forward-looking higher education systems as the world enters the final five years to achieve SDG 4. This flagship report draws primarily on data from the UNESCO Higher Education Policy Observatory – a pioneering global resource for comparative international data on higher education, which includes policy indicators as well as statistics compiled by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) across close to 150 countries.
On 13 May (morning), the interactive workshop will focus on strengthening higher education data systems, with particular attention to the UNESCO Higher Education Policy Observatory and relevant international evidence, as well as to strategies for strengthening national and institutional capacities to collect, analyze, use, and disseminate data for governance, planning, and decision-making.
The event will be held in-person and webcast. Interpretation is available in English, Spanish and French.
Detailed information on the event, including the agenda and registration details, is available on the event page.
