EUA together with the European Students’ Union (ESU) organised a webinar on how to address changing policies for student assessment during the coronavirus crisis.

The webinar focused on how universities are adapting their assessment and examination policies under the current unprecedented circumstances. Representatives from European higher education institutions and student unions were invited to present examples of practices. They also reflected on how to make sure that the situation does not create unequitable situations for and among students, and that assessment and examination are fair and meaningful in the student experience. Finally, the webinar explored how to involve student representatives in the development of assessment policies at institutions.

Friday, 15 May 2020 at 13.00 – 14.00 CEST

Moderated by ESU and EUA, the event hosted the following guest speakers to share their experiences and challenges:

  • João Veloso, Pro-Rector, University of Porto, Portugal
  • Marta Zuvic-Butorac, Vice-Rector, University of Rijeka, Croatia, and member of the EUA Learning and Teaching Steering Committee
  • Kevin McStravock, Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Union of Students in Ireland

Participants had the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session during the webinar.

The webinar was of particular interest to EUA members who are familiar with EUA’s flagship activities on the enhancement of learning and teaching. One of EUA’s 2019 Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups focused specifically on student assessment.
