The European higher education, research and innovation landscape is changing. This creates opportunities and challenges for universities to incentivise and reward a broad range of academic activities.

The European University Association (EUA) is bringing together universities, research funding organisations and policymakers for a workshop on academic career assessment. Hosted by Universities Norway, the event focuses on how to develop and implement evaluation approaches to reflect a changing environment where research is becoming openly available, learning and teaching are entering the digital age and knowledge exchange with society is high on the agenda.

The discussion on reviewing academic career assessment has taken major steps forward since last year’s EUA workshop on 14 May 2019 in Brussels, Belgium. Comprehensive and up-to-date information on practices across Europe has been gathered, creating a common knowledge base to discuss opportunities and challenges of change. The past year also saw the launch of many institutional and national initiatives to improve existing practices.

This workshop reflects current discussions on academic career assessment and incorporates them in a forward-looking debate between institutional leaders (rectors, vice-rectors and heads of administration), research department staff and management involved in learning and teaching, as well as representatives of other organisations.

You can register for the workshop by filling out the registration form. The event is open to EUA members and selected partners and is free of charge. Please consult if your institution is a member. Registrations will close on Friday, 1 May.
