Alison Morrisroe

Upon graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in French and Spanish, Alison worked as an English language teacher at the University of Lille, the Catholic University of Lille and Dublin City University. Alison also holds an MA in International Relations from Dublin City University and undertook her end-of-studies internship at the European Trade Union Committee for Education in Brussels, where she focused on human rights, working conditions and education policy.

Prior to joining EUA, Alison completed a five-month traineeship at the European Parliament during which she worked on drafting HR policies with a view to establishing an inclusive, equal and diverse workplace.

A Project and Policy Officer at EUA since March 2020, Alison’s portfolio consists of topics such as the integration of refugees into higher education and the digitalisation of higher education institutions.

Michael Gaebel

Michael Gaebel is the director of the Higher Education Policy Unit, which focuses on issues related to higher education learning and teaching, including the Bologna Process, lifelong learning, e-learning and MOOCs, internationalisation and global dialogue.

When he first joined the organisation in 2006, he was in charge of developing EUA’s international strategy and global exchange and cooperation.

Before joining EUA, Michael worked for more than a decade in higher education cooperation and development in the Middle East, the former Soviet Union and Asia. From 2002 to 2006, he was the European Co-Director of the ASEAN-EU University Network Programme (AUNP) in Bangkok.
Michael graduated with a Masters in Middle Eastern Studies and German Literature and Linguistics from the Freie University Berlin, Germany.

Helene Peterbauer

Helene Peterbauer joined EUA in 2018. She is a Policy Analyst in the Institutional Development Unit, with a particular focus on learning and teaching as well as academic recognition. Prior to joining EUA, Helene worked as pre-doc assistant and lecturer at the University of Vienna. In Vienna, Helene was primarily involved with doctoral research and teaching, as well as event management and the ERASMUS+ programme. 
Helene holds master’s degrees in German Studies and Scandinavian Studies as well as a doctoral degree in Scandinavian Studies, all from the University of Vienna.

Ulf-Daniel Ehlers

Ulf is founder of mindful-leaders.net, serial entrepreneur, and full Professor for Educational Management and Lifelong Learning at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University. In 2011 the Ministry of Higher Education called him to spearhead the launch of Germany’s first Cooperative University as Vice-President, a large scale initiative, with today 35 thousand students. In 2017, he launched NextEducation, an international boutique-research group focussing on Future Skills, Microcredentials & digital transformation in higher education. Just recently he was appointed as Scientific Director at the Future Learning Laboratory at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Nicole Geier

Nicole Geier has been working as an academic assistant at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Karlsruhe in the Department of Educational Management and Lifelong Learning since 2021. Her main areas of research include future skills, competence development in theory-practice study programmes and digitally enhanced learning and teaching. She studied Leisure and Tourism Management (B.A.) and Human Resource Management (M.Sc.) at the universities of Stralsund (GER), Palma de Mallorca (ES) and Koblenz (GER). Within the DIGI HE project, together with Prof. Dr. Ulf-Daniel Ehlers, she is responsible for quality assurance

Christina Hell

Christina Hell is the head of Teaching Innovation and Digital Competence Development at the University for Continuing Education Krems.

Her expertise lie in digital transformation and strategic development of HE institutions in Europe with a focus on digital teaching and learning as well as collaboration. Before joining the University for Continuing Education, she was a member of the University of Oxford, Sorbonne University and University of Hohenheim. Currently, she concentrates on the development of more flexible curricula in academic continuing education that equip future graduates for complex problems in uncertain times.

Tindara Addabbo

Tindara Addabbo is Full Professor in Economic Policy and coordinator of the Ph.dTindara Addabbo is Full Professor in Economic Policy and coordinator of the Ph.dProgramme in Labour, Development and Innovation and member of the working group onFaculty Development at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Coordinator of theProject: Leading Towards Sustainable Gender Equality Plans in research institutions –LeTSGEPs (H2020-SwafS-2019 – 873072) coordinated by Unimore, admitted to funding inJuly 2020 within the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework, call H2020-SwafS-2018-2020 (Science with and for Society), 1/01/2020 (in progress). Current main ResearchAreas: education (determinants of gender gap in education, gender stereotypes, impact ofinnovative and inclusive teaching and of digital education), employment and wagediscrimination, well-being (measurement and evaluation of the effect of public policies ondifferent dimensions, in a gender perspective and in the capability approach), genderbudgeting and policies evaluation, certification of firms in terms of gender equity.

Airina Volungevičienė

Prof. dr. Airina Volungevičienė has been working among leading researchers, methodology specialists and education policy makers in the area of technology enhanced learning (TEL) development in Europe and Lithuania since 1997. Having established the national network for distance and e-learning in Lithuania, then the Lithuanian Distance and e-Learning association (2010), she continued as a leader in research and project work to promote the development of TEL in Lithuania and Europe, introducing many innovations in different education organisations including schools, VET, adult learning and higher education sectors. Her main role at Vytautas Magnus University is to direct Institute activities towards implementing its mission: to advise University teachers to design distance learning and teaching (DL/T) curriculum, to ensure DL/T quality, to get DL/T curriculum quality assurance at University, to organize online studies successfully, and to ensure DL/T accreditation and quality assurance at the national and international level.

Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl

Pedro Ruiz

Pedro M. Ruiz graduated in 2002 with a Ph.D in Telematics from the University of Murcia, Spain, and he has held several postdoctoral positions including a "Ramon y Cajal" research career, Visiting Researcher at ICSI in University of California at Berkeley, Research Associate within CCRG at Univ of California at Santa Cruz and Visiting Research Fellow within the CTR at King's College London. In addition, before getting his Ph.D, he worked as coordinator for advanced networking experiments for the Spanish National Research Network (RedIRIS), R&D director at Agora Systems S.A. and teaching staff at Dept. of Telematic Engineering of University Carlos III in Madrid. 

Currently he works as the Vice-rector for Strategy and Digital University at the University of Murcia, Spain, and is also the Executive Secretary of the Committee on ICT of the Spanish Rectors Conference (CRUE), where he also leads the working group on digitally enhanced teaching and learning (FOLTE).

Oliver Janoschka

Oliver Janoschka is head of digital transformation programmes at Stifterverband and has served as managing director of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) since its inception in 2014. Before founding HFD, Oliver Janoschka worked in the field of higher education in various European Member States for more than seven years. He has a proven track record of facilitating international policy projects, serving for example as director of projects for the European Association on Lifelong Learning in Higher Education (EUCEN) in Barcelona and Brussels and as lecturer and project coordinator for the Bosch Foundation in the Western Balkans. He holds a master’s degree in educational management, sociology and psychology from the University of Hamburg.

Ivana Juraga

Ivana is a Policy Officer in the Digital Education Unit of Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission. Her duties involve work on the enabling factors for successful digital education, strengthening the evidence gathering and analysis on digital education, and following the digital transformation in higher education. Ivana holds degrees from the University of Zagreb and the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has previously worked at the Croatian Agency for Adult Education, the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, and the European University Association. 

Ruben Janssens

Ruben Janssens is an artificial intelligence (AI) researcher at Ghent University in Belgium. He is pursuing a PhD, developing AI for social robots for education. He is currently an expert member of the Bologna Hub Peer Support II project and is representing the academic staff in Ghent University’s Educational Board. He was previously a member of the Executive Committee of the European Students’ Union, from 2021 to 2022, where he advocated students’ interests in higher education policy concerning the quality of education, especially regarding learning & teaching, digitalization, mental health, and the European Universities Initiatives. In that capacity, he was a member of the BFUG Working Group on Learning & Teaching and the EUA Learning & Teaching Steering Committee, among others.

Pekka Kähkipuro

Pekka Kähkipuro is Chief Information Officer at Tampere University. Prior to his current role, Pekka has been CIO at Brunel University London, Director of IT at Aalto University in Finland 2010-2015 and, before that, he held various senior roles in the private sector including Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks in 2005-2010. Pekka obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Helsinki in 2000. He has been Board member of the European University Information Systems (EUNIS) organisation on two occasions and the President of EUNIS in 2015. He has also been board member and Chairman of the Board in several private sector companies.
