Call for participation in EUA focus group on “Internal quality assurance in times of Covid-19”

EUA has launched a call for participants for a focus group on internal quality assurance in times of Covid-19. This focus group is reserved to participants from EUA member institutions. The deadline to apply is 11 January 2021.

In response to the Covid-19 crisis, higher education institutions have adjusted and adapted their activities to an emergency, remote mode. A recent EUA briefing shows that institutions’ responses varied depending on the size, governance model, discipline and the status of digitally enhanced learning provision prior to the crisis. This sudden shift in the mode of delivery has raised questions about the effectiveness, relevance and flexibility of quality assurance arrangements in this context.

This online focus group will meet in early February 2021 to examine how internal quality assurance practices have been adapted to the changes brought about by the crisis, what key challenges have arisen from the quality perspective, and what role internal quality assurance has assumed in supporting institutions in managing the crisis.

The focus group will provide an opportunity to share experiences and learn about practices in other participating institutions. The findings will feed into a short report intended to serve and inspire EUA member universities and to contribute to EUA’s policy work.

Interested applicants must complete the online form and they must be:

  • a representative of an EUA member university or national rectors’ conference;
  • an institutional leader or senior manager with responsibilities in internal quality assurance;
  • experienced in quality assurance and aware of current debates on quality in education;
  • committed to actively participate in the full programme.


The applications will be evaluated with attention to geographical balance and all applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection by e-mail by 15 January.
